History: This Church was built by the community in 1929. First marriage preformed by Rev. Elton for Jack K. Wilson and Marge Gradner in 1935.
2nd wedding Chris Nielson and Pearl Shand July 1948.
This church was purchased by 'United Church of Canada' in about 1950. (Wilson, 1981)

The Mathew United Church in Peers was built in 1927 by volunteer labour along with carpenter Wayfare Eaton. The church, originally Anglican, was purchased in 1963 by the United Church and renamed the Mathew United Church in honour of Tim Mathew Sr., who was the minister living in the area when the building was erected.
